Day 4,380!!!!!!

Happy 12th anniversary to my little #365day project gone rogue. With the exception of 1 day (due to a family death) for 4,380 days in a row I’ve been posting #ChickPicotheDay . It began using a #Canon camera and continues with one (but today’s shot was with my iPhone because I wanted my camera in this photo too!)

5 cameras (including 1 I almost drowned), 8 lens (including the $500 repair bill from 1ft from the ground lens I dropped), 8 external backup drives, at least 3 or 4 laptops, crappy studio lights to decent lights, 8 or 9 backdrops, 5 or 6 types of tripods, monopods, 5 or 6 camera bags, 1 yellow kayak, 2 cars with over 600k kms on them. I’ve shot festivals, ballets, rodeos, air shows, car races, sports, weddings (including my son’s), engagements, family shoots, magic shows, wildlife, houses, pets, boudoir, people, food, concerts, a pretty decent headcount of major Canadian recording artists and celebrities, epic scenery, miles of backroads. I’ve slipped in mud, been bit by skeeters, froze my butt off, laid in mud, shot a newborn barfing, dropped a wicked fart on a family photo shoot-won over the boys in that family lol, stood on ladders, shot from my car, shoot from my kayak (almost drowned),won a couple contests, got some stuff published in magazines, on book covers and one time I even took shots inside a cannabis factory. I’ve put out 6 years worth of calendars and raised over $5k for local charities. My photography has brought me through some pretty rough times in my life and helped me heal. I think the biggest thing of all,is all of the people I’ve met! So many people, so many wonderful people from all walks of life either in person or through my many social media sites I’m on (some days it’s tooooo many). For today’s special shot (due to feeling a bit under the weather) I loaded up my car and drove my butt up to my fav isolated road. I parked in the middle of the road ok,it’s a trail) and set up this shot using the timer on my phone and quickly hopped on to the chair. I had barely taken the shot when I heard sound of a fast approaching ATV or something. It was 5 atvs, they approached and waited patiently revving their engines until I moved my props to the side of the road. I hopped in my car and backed up all the way down the road until it was wide enough for them to pass. They were lost so I gave them directions and told them to disregard the crazy chick in the woods taking photos. They laughed and drove on by me. I only took this 1 shot and decided it was good enough. I had completed my goal documenting my special accomplishment. Nothing fancy because I’m not fancy. I did leave a clue in today’s photo about something to do with my up and coming newly designed website. Any guesses what I mean by that?

I’d like to thank my family (including the furbabies), friends, clients and followers for putting up with my wacky ideas, my grammar, my long running sentences, my odd sense of humour, your kind words and support. I try very hard to keep it light and peaceful on my daily posts and plan on continuing to do so until I’ve had enough or y’all have had enough of me or I’m incapable of carrying around all my heavy gear. After all, I am 60, the seniors discounts are good but the bones ache on occasion. Oh, I wouldn’t take offence if you booked me for a shoot, bought some of my work or hit me up for a follow (if you aren’t alrey). Ok, I’ll shut up now.

Peace, love and kumbaya,
Heather
